Jonathan Dickinson State Park Boat Tours
If the kids are interested in nature more than the land Story of Trapper Nelson, an alternative option would be to take a Wilderness Guided Boat Tour. You’ll travel along the Loxahatchee River and learn about the nature that surrounds it as your entire trip is narrated by a licensed Captain.
Standard sights include Alligators and the West Indian Manatee. Children under 6 are free to ride, with reasonable rates for children over six and adults. Another option is to explore this area independently in the family boat (accessing the water via a boat ramp or trailer at the Jimmy Graham Boat Ramp Park) or rent a kayak or canoe.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park Equestrian Activities
A seasonal activity that starts in late December and lasts until Easter is attending the various guided Equestrian events. Any child of any age has the option to partake in these activities. Options range from guided horseback rides, handheld rides, and horse-drawn tram tours. These activities range in price as well, with the horseback rides at $25 down to free horse drew wagon rides for children under three.

Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge Turtle Walks
In June and July, Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge hosts turtle walks. For $5 a person, the family can meet in the evening to watch an educational movie about turtles and proceed to the beach pavilion to look at the turtles with an expert.
He will take the lead on observing the beach for possible turtle locations. Once a turtle is spotted, the group gets a closer look at their process of laying eggs and protecting them before returning to the ocean. This activity is best suited for kids who can stay up past nine but is fun for everyone who participates.

Hobe Sound Festival of Arts
Hobe Sound also has an active arts and entertainment community. This all culminates with the Annual Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts which brings together artists from the of painting, pottery, glassware, jewelry and other industries who celebrate their craft and make it available to attendees.
On the first weekend of February, the Hobe Sound Festival of the Arts also encourages children to participate in the Arts Festival by entering the children’s poster contest or by hanging out in the kid’s zone while the rest of the family can enjoy the active downtown community. This is a free event that also includes free parking and trolley shuttle services from select locations.
